The Wrap Dress: A Wardrobe Classic

I love wrap dresses because they're so easy to wear and look great on ladies of all sizes. Diane von Furstenberg created them in the 1970s and my mom had one. Of course I wish she still owned it so I could have it. She's told me that if she kept all the clothes she's owned throughout her life, she'd be a horrible hoarder. Makes sense! Gotta make sure I don't head down that path...

A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to find an original Diane von Furstenberg, made in Italy in the 1970s. I think the seller had no idea what it was because the price was low. My lucky day! Even though I don't care about designer brands, I had to buy it because it's iconic and so well made.

such a fun arty print
By the way, here's a follow up to my post about art I've been seeing in the streets of New York. I have a new favorite! Check out this mural I saw the other day in Chelsea. So incredible. Look closely at this weird dude's preppy pants. They're made of world flags.

Have a wonderful weekend lovelies!

  2. Yours does look remarkably like your mom's! You both have great taste. And that mural is soooooo cool! The pants pattern actually looks a little like the print on your dress. Happy Weekend!

  4. Wow, what a score! I'd love to have a DVF wrap dress some day. I am also not so into labels, but this would be an exception.

  6. I love the print! Gorgeous! I've found a DVF wrap dress last year and the second hand shop priced it like all the other noname dresses. I was so happy because the material (silk jersey) is so lovely! I wouldn't have bought it just for the nametag, but I'm sold on great materials... The print on mine is not this beautiful though. :)

  7. Jealous of the vintage DVF. I can think of so many ways to style it. I've had a number of wrap dresses, but never a DVF...and the details (the cuffs, the collar, the fabric) make a world of difference.
